Two arrested in connection with murder of Benny Whitehouse
Gardaí in Balbriggan, Co Dublin, investigating the fatal shooting of Benjamin (Benny) Whitehouse on Thursday 25th September 2014 have arrested two people.
A 34-year-old male and a 28-year-old female were arrested last night and are currently being held in Balbriggan and Swords Garda Stations under the provisions of Section 50 – Criminal Justice Act 2007.
Shooting victim, Benny Whitehouse had previously been the target of an organised crime gang in a row over an alleged drug and had been warned by Gardai that his life was in danger.
It is believed the 36-year-old had sought to get a bullet-proof vest fearing a hit was imminent.
Whitehouse died in Balbriggan after he was shot at least four times after leaving his child to school by an attacker who fled at high-speed in a getaway car.
It is thought the killer fired the shots leaning into the victim's car.
The dead man's partner, Natasha White, was also hit in the thigh during the attack and taken to Beaumont Hospital.
The horrific gun attack took place just yards from St Peter and Paul’s school as parents brought their children to the primary school.
