Two arrested after gardai seize drugs in Dublin organised crime operation

A man and a woman were arrested by gardai yesterday as part of investigation into serious criminal activity in Dublin.

A vehicle was intercepted in the Blanchardstown area of Dublin at approximately 7pm yesterday by the Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (DOCB) and the Serious Crime Task Force.

During the stop-and-search, five kilos of cannabis resin were seized before a man in his 30s was arrested for drug trafficking offences.

A follow-up search at an address in the Ashbourne area resulted in the seizure of an additional 18kgs of cannabis resin.

A woman in her 30s was arrested at the Co Meath house.

The pair are currently detained at Blanchardstown garda station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act.

The street value of the drugs seized by gardai is estimated at €108,000.

In a separate operation today, a joint force consisting of gardai and Revenue officers seized €680k worth of cannabis in the Clondalkin area.
