Thugs on black scrambler motorbike blast man’s home with shotgun
A man whose west Dublin house was shot at by a gunman who escaped on a motorbike has today said he has no idea why his home was targeted in the attack.
At approximately 9.45pm last night two men on a black scrambler motorbike approached the house in the Fernleigh Estate in Carpenterstown.
The rear passenger got off the bike and approached the front door, and then fired a shotgun once at it.
He then got back on the back of the bike and the two men escaped in the direction of Diswellstown Bridge and Coolmine.
Speaking to Independent.ie this morning as he cleaned up the broken glass, the middle-aged man who lives in the house said he is shocked at what happened.
"I was in my bedroom when I heard a loud bang. I didn't know what it was," he said.
"Then I came out into the hall and I could see the broken glass and smell smoke, which I thought was strange.
"The neighbours and a taxi driver said two guys had driven away on a motorbike and then I saw the damage to the door," he added.
"It's frightening. I really don't know why this happened," said the man, who added that he's been living in the property for two years.
He said he isn't in any trouble or argument with anyone and none of his relatives are either.
The man speculated that whoever fired the shot may have got the wrong address.
This morning he started tidying up the broken glass from the small window in the centre of the front door with a dustpan and brush, and surveyed the pellet damage to the surrounding frame.
Gardai confirmed they are investigating the incident.
There was no description of the men and gardaí have appealed for anyone with information to contact Blanchardstown Garda Station on (01) 666 7000 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
