Three men arrested under Operation Thor
Three men have been arrested by gardai under Operation Thor.
The first man, aged 48-years, is currently in custody at Ashbourne Garda Station under Section 30, Offences Against the State Act, 1939/98 in connection with an armed robbery that occurred at a shop in Dunboyne on the 15th October.
Two men entered the shop, threatened staff and left the scene with a sum of money.
The second man, who is aged in his late 30s, is currently in custody in Mullingar Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 in connection with a number of offences, including robbery of a taxi man, robbery of a pharmacy, attempting to hijack a car and attempting to rob a handbag.
The third arrest refers to an incident that occurred in Birr, Co Offaly on the 12th of November when a man aged in his late 30s allegedly stole a handbag and keys of a car.
Gardai report that he later crashed the car and was arrested at the scene and is currently detained at Birr Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
