Teen dead following early morning road collision

Gardai have launched an investigation after a 13-year-old boy died following a road crash this morning.

It is believed that the young teen was involved in a car that was involved in a single car collision at 6.40am this morning.

The youth and an adult male walked away from the crash but he subsequently collapsed on the road nearby.

Emergency services were called and the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene. His remains have been brought to Loughlinstown Hospital.

The road between Annamoe and Roundwood remains closed to traffic this morning and traffic diversions are in place.

A forensics team is at the scene and a full garda investigation is underway.
