A YOUTH is facing trial over a serious attack on a Dublin street during which a woman suffered head injuries.

Dublin Children's Court heard it is alleged she was attacked by the then 16-year-old boy at Hendrick St, D7, on Sept. 17, 2014. It is alleged a garda found the woman who was bleeding and concussed.

She was brought by ambulance to hospital and received nine stitched to the top of her head and a cut on her face was glued, Judge John O'Connor was told. The youth, who is now aged 18, but who was a juvenile at the time was ordered to appear again later this month when he will have to enter a plea.

An order for disclosure of evidence to his solicitor was made. Judge O'Connor said a delay in having the youth summonsed to appear in court meant the youth has lost some of the protections of the Children's Act.

He accepted jurisdiction for the case to remain in the juvenile court.
