Teen arrested after man dies in hospital
A 17-year-old youth has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a man who died in hospital after being found injured in a city centre street.
Police said the victim was found after officers attended St Matthews Way in Leicester at about 3.10pm on Monday.
Detectives have launched a murder investigation and are working to establish if the man sustained his injuries during an incident at the scene or elsewhere.
Commenting on the inquiry, Detective Chief Inspector David Swift-Rollinson said: "Our investigation is in the early stages, but we know from initial enquiries that there were people in the street just before emergency services arrived.
"If you were there and saw what happened, or saw the victim after he had sustained his injuries, we want to hear from you.
"Officers will be conducting house-to-house enquiries in the area, and trawling CCTV in order to piece together the wider circumstances."
The senior officer also appealed for local residents with private CCTV cameras to contact the investigation team.
"We also want to hear from business owners, delivery drivers and members of the public with dashboard cameras who were in the street at this time," he added.
Police have named the victim as 22-year-old Abdirahman Abdirizak Mahmoud Adam, who was from Leicester.
