Shooter "used silencer" in tonight's gun attack in Stamullen

A man has been seriously injured in a shooting incident in Co Meath.

The incident took place on Mill Court in Stamullen, Co Meath at approximately 7pm tonight. 

According to gardai a lone male entered the driveway of the house and fired a number of shots, injuring a man who was sitting in the driver’s seat of a car.

Neighbours claim that he was blasted at least four times and that a silencer was used by the would-be assassin. 

The injured man has been removed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda. His condition is unknown at this stage.

A full investigation has commenced and an incident room has been established at Drogheda Garda Station.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, particularly those people who were in the area prior to the incident and immediately after the shooting and who may have information or who may have seen anything unusual or suspicious to contact them at Drogheda Garda Station on 041 987 4200 The Garda Confidential Line, 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.
