Search underway for third man in relation to sexual assault in Dublin park

Two men have been arrested in relation to the rape of a woman in Clondalkin in the early hours of yesterday morning.

One of the men arrested is in his late teens, the second man is in his 20s.

It is understood that the two men are of Irish nationality, who live locally to the scene of the attack.

They were picked up by gardai in the Clondalkin area in the early hours of the morning.

The two are being detained for questioning at Lucan garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The victim - who is aged in her 30s - was attacked on the Ninth Lock Road in Clondalkin, near the junction with the Neilstown Road, at approximately 3.20am yesterday morning.

The woman had purchased items at a garage nearby and was pushing her bicycle along the footpath when she was grabbed by three men.

She was then raped by at least one of the individuals, before the group fled the scene.

The victim alerted gardai and officers from Ronanstown garda station - which is just 400m from where the attack took place - rushed to the scene.

Yesterday's attack is the third violent rape and sexual assault to occur in the Clondalkin area in the last number of months.

A manhunt is currently underway for a third man in relation to the sexual assault.

Gardai are appealing for anyone with information in relation to the incident, or anyone who was in the area at the time of the attack, to contact them at Ronanstown garda station.
