Police warn public not to approach escaped prisoner who may be in the Republic
Police have warned the public not to approach an inmate who has been on the run for two weeks and who has an extensive history of violence.
Jonathan Turley (33) has been missing since he failed to return to Magilligan Prison in Northern Ireland on Saturday, May 9.
The PSNI has appealed for information on his whereabouts.
Detective Inspector Mary White said Mr Turley has been in the Belfast and Newcastle areas since he absconded, and may also be travelling between Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland.
"We know that Mr Turley has been in the Belfast and Newcastle areas since he absconded and may also be travelling between Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland,"
"I would urge the public not to approach Mr Turley as he has an extensive history of violence and may pose a risk to them," she said.
"I would appeal directly to Mr Turley to hand himself in to the authorities without any further delay and I would also ask anyone who knows of his current whereabouts or who has any information to contact police on 999."
