Gallery: Scene of the shooting in south-inner city Dublin

These are the scene pictures from the shooting that occurred just after 4pm on Bridgefoot Street in Dublin's south-inner city.

The shooting occured at around 4.10pm this evening.

It is understood that one man suffered serious head and chest injuries after the shooting in Dublin 8, which took place on Bridgefoot Street.

The victim, who is believed to be in his 50s, was walking in the area when he was shot several times by a lone gunman.

The injured man was been taken to St James Hospital, where his condition is still thought to be extremely serious.

The area has been sealed off for technical examination.

A burnt-out car was discovered a short distance away.

A gun has been recovered at the scene.

Paramedics were on the scene shortly afterwards working on the injured man.

The victim is believed to be a convicted drug dealer who survived a previous attempt on his life.

Gardai are investigating if he was a target for the Kinahan cartel, who have been involved in a  ongoing bloody gang war with the Hutch mob which has already claimed seven lives.
