A total of 28,000 illegal cigarettes were seized by Revenue officers at Dublin Airport yesterday.

Revenue Officers, working with detector dog Frankie at Dublin Airport, seized 28,000 cigarettes when, as a result of routine profiling, they stopped and searched two passengers who had arrived on a flight from Frankfurt.

The passengers were questioned and a 24-year-old Moldovan woman was arrested and brought before Dublin District Court this afternoon.

She was remanded in custody by Judge Halpin.

She will appear in court again next Tuesday

The cigarettes, branded "Kent",  have a retail value in excess €15,000, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer in excess of €9,000.
