Revenue seize over €4million worth of drugs in sting

Significant quantities of cocaine, MDMA, ecstasy and herbal cannabis were seized by Revenue officers on Sunday.

Following routine profiling by Revenue's National Profiling Centre targeting the illegal importation, sale and supply of drugs, a vehicle importing plant machinery was profiled for further investigation by local Customs officers in the Border Midlands-West Region.

A significant quantity of controlled drugs were seized.

The drugs included approximately 60 kilos of herbal cannabis; 33 kilos of cocaine; 2.2 kilos of MDMA and more than 72,000 ecstasy tablets.  

The value of the drugs seized is estimated to be in excess of €4million.
