Revenue seize over 350 litres of alcohol, thousands of cigs in Dublin Port sting
A large quantity of alcohol, along with thousands of cigarettes, were seized by Revenue officers at Dublin Port on Saturday.
Revenue officers at Dublin Port seized 355 litres of alcohol, made up of wine and beer, along with 3,200 cigarettes branded 'Winston', 'Kent' and 'Pall Mall' early on Saturday morning.
The contraband was found in a routine check of a van that had arrived in Dublin Port just before midnight on Friday, having travelled from Romania via Holyhead.
The male driver and his two passengers, all Romanian nationals in their thirties, were questioned as investigations continue.
The smuggled goods have a retail value of over €3,800 and represent a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €2,800.
