Picture of bullet-ridden car emerges after north Dublin shooting
The attack occurred this evening in a housing estate in Swords, north Dublin.
The shooting took place just after 7pm this evening.
Several shots were fired at a car, in which a man sat, in the Rathbeale Crescent estate in Swords.
According to RTE, the shots were fired at a 66-year-old man.
The man believed to be the target of the shooting is thought to have escaped uninjured from the assassination attempt.
The car thought to have been driven by the suspected target
A source told Independent.ie: "Around five or six bullets were fired at this man but they all missed.
"The suspected target is known to gardai."
The man is yet to give a statement to the authorities.
Gardai found a black Audi, which had been set on fire, on a back road leading to Dublin Airport shortly after the attack.
It is believed that this vehicle was used during the shooting incident.
