Revenue officers seized over €1million worth of herbal cannabis at a south County Dublin warehouse today.

As part of an intelligence-led operation today, Revenue's Customs Officers, with the assistance of detector dog Meg, seized over €1million worth of herbal cannabis at a warehouse in south County Dublin.

This brings the total value of drugs seized by Revenue to over €10million in the last fortnight.

On Tuesday, in a separate operation, officers seized 11,000 cigarettes and over 12kg  of tobacco following the search of a house in Rush, Co Dublin.

 

The cigarettes, branded "Rothmans", "L&M" and "Bond", and tobacco, branded "West", "Marlboro", "Pall Mall" and "Marlboro Gold", originated in Hungary and have a retail value in excess of €11,400, representing a potential loss to the exchequer of almost €10,000.

A Hungarian man in his 30s was interviewed following the cigarette seizure.
