A video - seemingly of two Traveller men - brawling in broad daylight has caused outrage on social media since it was uploaded to YouTube.

Gardai were forced to separate the two men after they were filmed bare knuckle brawling allegedly in the centre of Sligo town.

The fight - which lasted almost three minutes - took place outside Johnson's Court shopping centre in front of young people and shoppers.

The clip was uploaded to YouTube on October, 27 with the caption: "Irish Travellers in bare knuckle street fight. This is in Sligo town (27 Oct 2014)."

It is understood Gardai arrived at the scene and took the men in for questioning.

In the clip the two men exchange blows with a number of onlookers egging them on.

"The real disturbing question here is why it took so long for the guards to arrive," a commenter wrote under the clip on the Sligo Today page.

"The fight lasted three minutes. Why were there no guards on duty on Sligo towns main street?"
