Murder investigation launched after man's body found in Dublin

The body of a man was discovered in a remote area near Ballinascorney Hill, south County Dublin yesterday.

Gardai at Tallaght are appealing for witnesses following the discovery of the body of a man close to a forest track on Ballinascorney Hill, near the Ballinascorney Road Upper, Brittas yesterday.

The man, aged in his 60s, had been reported missing from the area on Thursday.

Gardai are conducting a murder investigation following a post-mortem at Tallaght Hospital and the services of the State Pathologist have been sought.

Gardai are conducting a witness appeal near the scene today at 3pm.

Gardai are appealing for anyone who was in the general area of Ballinascorney Hill, or Ballinascorney Road Upper between 6.30am on September 29 and 4.00am on September 30 to contact the incident room at Tallaght garda station on 01 666000 or the garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
