A car belonging to the crimelord nicknamed ‘Mr Big’ was seized by armed gardai just hours after Vinnie Ryan was murdered.

Emergency Response Unit (ERU) officers were sent to find the vehicle after gardai noticed it was not in its usual location.

The car was discovered in a north inner city hotel on Monday night by the ERU officers; it was seized and was still being technically examined last night.

It is understood that the vehicle was not used in the murder, but officers are trying to establish if it had been active “before or after” the shooting.

25-year-old Vinnie Ryan was gunned down by a two man hit squad as he sat in a car in Finglas, north Dublin, on Monday.

The ‘Mr Big’ drugs gang remain the chief suspects for the murder of Ryan, but sources say gardai have not yet ruled out the involvement of associates of slain drugs trafficker Michael ‘Mica’ Kelly – who was shot dead by Ryan’s IRA faction in September 2011.
