Gardai have arrested two men after seizing a massive amount of heroin from a vehicle.

The seizure, made yesterday, was part of a Garda operation targeting an organised crime gang operating out of the Ballyfermot area of the city.

Officers from the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau stopped and searched a vehicle and seized a significant quantity of heroin.

Two men were arrested, one aged 20, the other 45 years.

The street value of the controlled drugs seized in this investigation is estimated to be valued at €1 million euros. 

This is the second significant seizure made by this operation in recent days.

On Saturday, heroin, cocaine and cannabis herb valued at €1.6m were seized by Gardai after they searched a car in Islandbridge and a house in Ballyfermot.

The two arrested men, who are from Dublin, are currently detained, under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Kevin Street and Irishtown Garda stations.
