Man stabbed to death in Limerick village
Gardai are investigating after a man was stabbed to death in the Limerick village of Pallasgreen.
The incident occurred at approximately 11pm yesterday.
Reports indicate that emergency services were responding to a call of a woman being assaulted when they discovered the body of a man.
The man's body was found at a house in The Grove estate at the entrance to the town on the Limerick City side.
There are unconfirmed reports that the man, who is aged in his mid-20s, had been trying to intervene in an incident involving a woman and another man when he received fatal stab wounds.
Sources said the man was stabbed in the chest, abdomen, and arms.
His body remained at the house last night and a Garda investigation was under way.
A woman, 34 years, was taken to University Hospital Limerick with an apparent stab wound. Her injuries are described as non life threatening.

Two men, 20 and 32 years, have been arrested in connection with this investigation and are currently detained at Henry Street and Roxboro Road Garda Stations under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
The scene has been preserved and the Offices of the State Pathologist have been notified.
Gardai and ambulance crews were dispatched to the scene after initial reports suggested two people had been killed. But just one person was found dead at the house when emergency services arrived.
