Man shot in Dublin city centre gun attack

A man has been shot in a gun attack in Dublin city centre this afternoon.

The man, who is in his 20s, has been taken away in an ambulance after receiving gunshot injuries.

According to RTE reports, the shooting may have been a case of mistaken identity.

It is understood that up to six shots were fired during the attack.

The incident occurred at the Sheriff Street-Oriel Street junction.

His condition is described as serious.

Gardai are on the ground at the incident in Sheriff Street, Dublin 1.

A helicopter has also been deployed above the area of the shooting.

The gunshot incident was reported just after 12.30pm today.
