Gardai launch appeal after man seriously injured in hit-and-run

A man sustained serious injuries after being struck by a car near Kent station in Cork city.

Gardai are seeking witnesses to a hit-and-run traffic collision on Lower Glanmire Road, Cork city, which happened yestersday at around 2.05am.

A male pedestrian in his 30s received serious injuries when he was struck by a car that failed to remain at the scene.

The victim was exiting a taxi just beyond Kent train station when he was struck.

Witnesses describe the offending car as a grey Toyota, possibly a Statlet or a Corolla.

It is possible the offending vehicle left in the direction of Grattan Hill.

The injured man was taken to Cork University Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries, which do not appear to be life threatening.
