Man rushed to hospital with serious head injuries after assault

Gardai are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 50s suffered serious head injuries following an assault in Limerick city.

Gardai at Roxboro Rd are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in which a man (50s) received serious head injuries.

The incident occurred on Lord Edward Street at around 7.45pm yesterday.

It is believed the injured party was in an altercation with another man who fled the scene.

The man was taken to University Hospital Limerick and has since been moved to Cork University Hospital.

CCTV will be viewed as part of the investigation. There have been no arrests.

Gardai at Roxboro Road wish to make an appeal for any witnesses to come forward.
