Man fighting for his life after driving to hospital following stabbing

A man in his 20s is this morning fighting for his life after receiving serious injuries in an apparent stabbing.

It is understood the man, who is believed to be in his mid 20s, drove himself to Beaumont Hospital early this morning following the attack. 

The man, who is believed to be from the Coolock area, received serious stab wounds to his chest.

Reports suggest he arrived at the hospital in Dublin after 7am this morning with serious wounds, saying: "I've been stabbed, I've been stabbed".

He was rushed into surgery just half an hour after his arrival where he has remained since, it was reported. 

Gardai are investigating the incident and are trying to establish if the attack is in some way connected to an incident which occurred in nearby Darndale earlier this morning. 

It is reported another male received stab wounds in the north Dublin suburb.
