A MAN charged in connection with the seizure of ammunition in Finglas has been released on bail subject to strict conditions.

Kane McCormack (23), of Rathborne View, Cabra, appeared before Judge David McHugh at Blanchardstown District Court yesterday.

He was arrested on Monday by gardai attached to the Special Detective Unit who found 50 rounds of ammunition after searching a car on Finglas Road.

The accused was detained at Finglas garda station.

Det Gda Sean Earley told Judge David McHugh that Mr McCormack made no reply after he was charged and cautioned.

He said he was not objecting to bail, subject to certain conditions.

These are that Mr McCormack should reside at Lower Sean McDermott Street in Dublin 1 and sign on daily at Store Street garda station between 9am and 9pm.

He is also to observe a curfew between 10pm and 7am. He lodged €1,000 in cash.

Mr McCormack, dressed in a black jacket and black trousers, did not address the court during the five-minute hearing.

Judge David McHugh granted the application for bail and remanded the case to early next month at Blanchardstown District Court for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Mr McCormack was granted free legal aid after his barrister, Jennifer Jackson, told Judge McHugh that he is in receipt of social welfare.
