A man will appear before the courts tomorrow in connection with an investigation launched after a submachine gun was seized by gardai in a raid on a Dublin property.

A house raid in west Dublin yesterday led to the discovery of a submachine gun and ammunition, along with a large quantity of cocaine as well as drug paraphernalia and mixing agents.

Gardai from the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau have charged a male in connection with their investigation.

He will appear before a court in Dublin tomorrow morning.

Gardai carried out the search at an apartment in the Castleknock area of Dublin.

During the course of the search, a submachine gun and ammunition were recovered.

A significant quantity of cocaine (subject to analysis) was also discovered.

Drug paraphernalia, along with mixing agents, were further recovered during the course of the raid.

The raid was conducted as part of a significant investigation into serious organised crime in the Dublin region.
