Man arrested in connection with this morning’s bank robbery
A man in his early 20s has been arrested following this morning’s attempted bank robbery.
Gardai responded to an alarm at the bank at Rosslare Harbour, Co Wexford this morning at 10am.
Upon arrival officers searched the perimeter and were unable to gain access to the building.
A number of staff members were observed in a room at the rear of the building and were able get out with Garda assistance.
Investigators became aware that a man armed with a gun was still inside the premises and it was alleged that a shot had been discharged.
This man fled the scene on foot and was pursued by uniformed Gardaí.
He was arrested by Gardaí a short distance from the bank and was taken to Wexford Garda Station where he is currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 as amended.
During the incident Gardaí recovered a firearm, ammunition, cable ties and duct tape.
No cash was taken during the incident and no injuries were reported.
