The man arrested by Spanish authorities during a joint operation between the Civil Guards and Gardai is a close associate of Martin 'The Viper' Foley.

The man, who is aged in his mid 30s, is from south inner city.

He is currently being detained in the Spanish capital Madrid.

There is no suggestion that Martin 'The Viper' Foley has any involvement in the murder of Gary Hutch or the ongoing gangland feud.

Foley and the arrested man have not been spotted together for a number of years.

The Spanish Civil Guard, working with members of the Gardai, arrested the man as part of operation ‘Geraneo’.

The man, who has a number of previous convictions in Ireland, was a suspect in a non-fatal shooting in Dublin in 2008

The murder of 34-year-old Gary Hutch sparked the bloody Kinahan-Hutch feud which has so far claimed ten lives.

Hutch was a key member of the Kinahan Cartel until a massive falling out and accusations of touting began within the mob.

He was gunned down at the Miraflores complex in September, 2015, after being assured that he was safe to return to his Spanish base.

In a series of dramatic raids today officers from Spain’s Guardia Civil have been operating in Dublin while members of An Garda Siochana have been assisting in operations in Spain.
