Man arrested after submachine gun and cocaine found in crime raid on Dublin house

A house raid in west Dublin today led to the discovery of a submachine gun and ammunition, along with a huge quantity of cocaine as well as drug paraphernalia and mixing agents.

Gardai from the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, including the Serious Crime Task Force supported by local gardai, carried out a search of an apartment in the Castleknock area of Dublin today.

During the course of the search, a submachine gun and ammunition were recovered.

A significant quantity of cocaine (subject to analysis) was also discovered.

Drug paraphernalia, along with mixing agents, were further recovered during the course of the raid.

The raid was conducted as part of a significant investigation into serious organised crime in the Dublin region.

A man in his 30s has been arrested in connection with the investigation.

He is currently detained at Blanchardstown garda station under the provisions of Section 30 - Offences Against the State Act, 1939.
