A gun-wielding male robbed a service station in County Cork yesterday evening.

Gardai are investigating a robbery that occurred at a service station in Brooklodge, Glanmire, County Cork yesterday evening at approximately 7.15pm.

A lone male arrived at the scene driving a wine coloured Fiat Punto, partial registration 98D. He then entered the premises, in possession of a firearm. He gained access behind the shop counter and demanded a staff member to put money from the cash registers into a bag which he provided.

The culprit exited the shop and fled the scene in the wine coloured Fiat Punto in the direction of Knockraha. This car was located last night abandoned at Templenacarriga, Midleton, County Cork and has been seized for technical examination.

The culprit is described as being male, approximately six foot in height and of athletic build. He was wearing a hooded top that is light grey on top and black on the bottom, black tracksuit bottoms and dark-coloured footwear.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information, particularly those who may have observed the wine coloured Fiat Punto prior to its arrival at Brooklodge or subsequent discovery at Templenacarriga to contact them at Mayfield garda station on 021 4558510, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666111 or any garda station.
