Two people have been arrested following the seizure of thousands of euro worth of drugs in Waterford.

A Waterford house was raided yesterday shortly after midday, which led to the discovery of a quantity of controlled drugs.

Authorities found 5,000 Diazepam (Valium) and Alprazolam (Xanax) tablets, as well as 50g cannabis resin, which were all seized.

The combined value of the drugs is around €10,000. 

A male, aged 29 and a female, aged 28, were arrested by gardai and remain detained at Waterford garda station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 as amended. 

The raid was carried out by Revenue's Customs Service, the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, the Waterford  Drugs Unit and the Health Products Regulatory Authority.
