Loaded firearm seized in Dublin city centre

Gardai seized a loaded revolver after a search of two vehicles in the capital yesterday.

Gardai have seized two vehicles, a gun and ammunition as part of ongoing searches related to organised crime in Dublin.

While patrolling the northside of the city centre on foot yesterday evening, gardai "were alerted to" two unoccupied vehicles parked in the locality.

Following a search of the vehicles, a loaded firearm and a canister of petrol were recovered.

The two vehicles, firearm and ammunition were seized for technical examination.

No arrests have yet been made in the ongoing investigation.
