A jury has been sworn in for the trial of a 50-year-old man accused of attempting to murder a woman in Dublin nearly two years ago.

Denis Leahy of Queen Street, Dublin 7 is charged with attempting to murder Rose Kenny (51) at School Street Flats, Dublin 8 on September 23, 2014.

This morning at the Central Criminal Court, Mr Leahy pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Mr Leahy has pleaded guilty to intentionally or recklessly causing serious harm to Ms Kenny at the same address on the same date.

"You must decide the case on what you hear in court. Mr Justice Butler will give you further instructions," he said.
