Italian sports car among 20 high-powered vehicles seized in early morning raid
A Masarati is among the 20 high powered cars and motorcycles which were seized by gardai this morning following a swoop on members of the Kinahan crime cartel in Dublin.
The raid on 12 addresses in Dublin included the homes of the family of David Byrne who was shot dead during the Regency Hotel attack last month.
A number of high powered motorbikes were confiscated, including one valued at €25,000; as well as top of the range BMWs, Mercedes and three Gold GTDs, when officers raided a car sales business owned by David Byrne's brother Liam.
It is understood that most of the vehicles seized are 151 and 161 registered and some are UK registered
Heavily armed officers blocked roads in the vicinity of Raleigh Square and Windmill Road from early this morning
Reports indicate that all the major players in the Kinahan/Byrne gang were in Dublin this morning, including Daniel Kinahan and Liam Byrne, whose home and that of his parents were the first targeted.
The Raleigh Square area is the stronghold of the Byrne gang and it is believed that CAB had been planning a major swoop on the mob for several months.
Armed gardai from the Emergency Response Unit, as well as the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, Special Detectives Unit, Garda Technical Bureau and the Operational Support Unit assisted the Criminal Assets Bureau as it raided 12 private homes and six commercial premises in the Dublin area, read the full story here.
