Irishman and US woman hand themselves in over alleged public sex act

An Irish man who was caught engaging in an alleged sex act in public has been shamed around the world and fined €50.

The 24-year-old man and his American ‘friend’ turned themselves in to Thai police after a video emerged purporting to show the duo engaging in oral sex on a busy street.

After they apologised to authorities on Phi Phi Island the couple accepted a fine of 2000 baht  (€50) for acting inappropriately in public.

Lt Col Atthapong Saengjaiwuth said the two, who are only known as Sullivan (24) and Natalie or Nadine (21), “claimed to be drunk at the time”.

On Sunday Krabi Police held a press conference presenting the two, who apparently said sorry to the Thai island for their alleged actions.

Lt Col Saengjaiwuth said: “The woman was a 21-year-old exchange student and the man was a 24-year-old tourist.

“The two said they were drunk at the time of the incident and that after they were confronted by locals they stopped.

“The man later left for Koh Tao, while the woman returned to Chiang Mai.

The pair were understood to have been outside the The Hussin House Hotel when they were caught

The local who was filming the scene threatened to call the police and told the couple to stay where they were.

The clip first appeared on Pattayaone.net and sparked a huge reaction online
