Hundreds of thousands of euro worth of drugs seized at Dublin Airport

Over seven kilograms of herbal cannabis were seized by Revenue officers at Dublin Airport on Sunday.

As a result of routine profiling, Revenue officers stopped and searched a passenger who had arrived into Dublin Airport on a flight from Alicante on Sunday.

Officers seized 7.2kg of herbal cannabis during the search.

The drugs, which have an estimated value of €144,000, were discovered in the checked-in baggage of the passenger.

 A 31-year-old Bulgarian man was arrested and appeared before Judge Brian Smyth at Dublin District Court yesterday morning.

He was remanded in custody to Cloverhill prison until Friday, when he will be brought before the court again.
