Granny stabbing linked to botched hit on gangland thug’s sidekick
The savage stabbing of innocent granny Bridie Smith may be linked to a botched hit on Derek ‘Dee Dee’ O’Driscoll’s pal, Sundayworld.com can reveal.
72-year-old Bridie remains in critical condition in St James’s Hospital after she was stabbed a reported seven times outside her home on Oranmore Road in Ballyfermot, Dublin 10.
The grandmother was knifed after she answered her front door at 10am yesterday morning.
However, a source has claimed that Bridie – who has no involvement in crime - was attacked just because she knows criminals who tried to shoot a well-known local hood.
It is believed that this attack may be in retribution for the botched hit on Dee Dee’s sidekick who was shot at in Cherry Orchard in early December.
The investigation into Bridie’s stabbing is being run by detectives from Ballyfermot Garda Station and a garda spokesman last night urged anyone with information on the incident to come forward.
Bridie Smith has no personal involvement with criminal activity.
