IT'S a desperate last ditch gamble from Ireland's first family of crime.

This week John Gilligan's daughter Treacy tried to offload the Gilligans' Spanish pub in Alicante to what she thought were dodgy Russians.

She wanted €450,000 and was happy to take 'black money' under the counter in a bid to get her hands on cash.

Sunday World sources say John Gilligan - the on-the-run Godfather of the Irish underworld - desperately needs cash to get himself back in business.

But unfortunately for the Gilligans, their Russian saviours turned out to be an undercover Sunday World team.
