BLUSHING groom Paddy Murphy had the mother of all parties when he wed his beautiful Mauritian bride last week.

But the balding playboy (42), chose to celebrate his nuptials with a group of gay friends in Dublin’s The George, while his stunning bride went home in the back of a 14-year-old Toyota Yaris.

Friends say Paddy Murphy is openly gay

And when the Sunday World tried to talk to the newly-wed, who pals describe as “openly gay”, about his gorgeous new bride, he warned: “I’ll f**king shoot you.”

Gardai are now investigating the civil ceremony, which took place in The Royal Hotel in Bray, Co Wicklow to see if any criminal offences were committed.

And while Paddy has told friends that he may have some shocking news for his wife over the coming weeks, she will be entitled to seek residency in Ireland through her Irish husband.

Paddy, who travels to Gay Pride festivals all over Europe and who has been known on the gay scene for years, was once caught performing oral sex on a young man in public and was hauled before the courts.

But last week he stunned friends when he told them he was marrying a cleaning lady from Mauritius called Leena, who he had only recently been introduced to by a pal.

After a whirlwind romance, which involved just a few meetings, the pair decided to tie the knot.

The Sunday World was watching when they gathered for a rather low-key ceremony in Bray last week.

Paddy arrived at the Royal Hotel before his bride and headed straight for the bar, where we spotted him enjoying a few pints with pals.

Dressed in a cheap suit, he appeared to keep a lid on any pre-wedding nerves as he made plans for his day ahead and told friends he hoped to get “pissed drunk”.

Earlier, the excited groom-to-be forgot to mention his forthcoming nuptials when he posted on his Facebook page and joked about a gay dating site: “Looking forward 2 friday a few drinks in bray with a few mates then hitting dublin for the night.” And he joked: “O right lol wonder what grindr is like in bray lol ring u now xx.”

As Paddy settled into his second pint in the Royal on Friday morning, he was heard whispering to pals “she’s the one in the red”, as a nervous-looking female arrived at the hotel reception accompanied by Dundalk couple Paul Dillon and his Mauritian partner Adrianna Michaylova.

Our undercover team watched as Leena made her way into the bar, ordered a cup of coffee and took a seat away from her husband-to-be.

Shortly after midday last Friday the couple said ‘I do’ in a room at the hotel reserved for civil ceremonies, with the bill footed by the taxpayer. When Paddy was told “you can now kiss the bride” onlookers say he gave her an awkward hug instead.

While most couples traditionally treat their guests to a slap-up meal and wedding reception, Leena and Paddy decided to do things differently.

She left the hotel with pals immediately after the ceremony and made her way around Bray town centre,  while Paddy went back to the bar for a few drinks with his pals before leading his gang to Goldsmith’s Pub.

The couple briefly met again for a quick picture on the pavement outside the pub before Leena was brought back to the hotel car park and driven away by Dillon, who became aggressive when he spotted our snapper.

It is not known what role Dillon and his partner had in the ceremony, but it is understood that they were instrumental  in introducing the pair.

Paddy, meanwhile, continued a pub crawl which took him to Jim Doyle’s pub on Bray seafront, where he was met by his best pal Paul Lee.

The pair are planning a holiday together later in the year to Gran Canaria, where they are looking forward to attending a Gay Pride festival.

When confronted this week about the wedding, Paddy became extremely volatile. He threatened to shoot a Sunday World reporter when we approached him in his home town of Knockbridge, Co. Louth.

He initially scurried into a local shop in the border town and said ‘no’ when asked if he would talk about the nuptials. He then said the Sunday World would be hearing from his solicitor.

When told the story would be running and it was better if he had an opportunity to talk, he became extremely aggressive.

He ran to the front of the shop raising his arms and squaring up to our reporter shouting: “If you don’t get away from me I’ll fucking shoot you.”

Murphy was told that wouldn’t be a good idea and he screamed: “Get the fuck away or I’ll get a lad here to put a bullet in your head.”

He then retreated inside the shop when pals told him there was a photographer outside. He refused to comment further.

Just a few years ago Paddy was caught on CCTV engaging in a sexual act with another man and had to appear at Dundalk District Court.

The court heard gardai had been called to the China Kitchen by staff after they witnessed two men performing a sexual act on their CCTV cameras.

The footage was viewed by gardai and Paddy was identified and arrested. The court heard he had admitted performing oral sex on a younger man behind a bin in a car park down an alleyway.

His solicitor Peter Lavery told the court it was a consensual act and that Murphy was very embarrassed.

But Paddy has been more than happy to share his exploits with pals since. Late last month, just weeks before his pending nuptials, he wrote on his Facebook page: “Well 26 years going gay pride and i have 2 say this years pride was rubbish on the plus side roll on limerick pride in a few weeks lol.”

After Ireland’s clash with Scotland recently he added: “Really like go dublin 2 night the place is full of scottish lads the boilerhouse be packed 2 night.”

And after Ireland voted Yes to gay marriage he stated: “I wonder which one of my friends will be the first 2 get married if defo wont be me i just love single life lol.”

Friends say they are stunned by Paddy’s marriage to pretty Leena, but have wished them well.

“Paddy has always been openly gay so it is a huge shock that he has married a woman – especially as he barely knows her,” one source said.

“The marriage has had a bit of a cold start with them going their separate ways on the day itself, but it remains to be seen if love really is blind.”
