Gardai seize cash and luxury car in swoop on Dublin crime gang linked to Mr Big
Gardai launched a major crackdown on a mob closely linked to notorious underworld figure known as Mr Big.
As part of a garda sting targeting a west Dublin crime gang, a search operation was carried out at locations across Dublin yesterday.
The searches were conducted at a number of residential and business premises including a solicitor's office, an accountant's office and a motor garage.
A total of 11 premises were thought to have been raided by the authorities.
During the searches, gardai seized cash in excess of €60,000, along with documentation and mobile phones.
The Criminal Assets Bureau also seized a luxury Audi (valued between €30k and €40k), believed to belong to a major criminal.
The criminal is believed to have his illegal activities supplied by the so-called Mr Big.
Gardai believe yesterday's swoop will seriously disrupt the criminal, described as being 'mid-level'.
This gang is just one which is supplied with drugs by Mr Big, who cannot be named because he is facing serious charges before the courts.
Garda sources have told the Sun that while the man may not be a 'household name', they believe he is heavily involved in drug dealing and his gang are 'on the up'.
Yesterday's sting was carried out by officers from the Criminal Assets Bureau, assisted by local garda detective units.
No arrests were made during the raids.
