Gardai seize €350k in vacuum-packed cash as three men arrested in Dublin sting
A garda operation yesterday resulted in the seizure of €350,000 in cash as three men were arrested, while follow-up house raids saw €10,000 worth of tablets recovered.
A number of vehicles were stopped on the M1 motorway yesterday, as part of garda investigations targeting criminal activity in the Dublin region.
The vehicles were stopped just north of Swords, Co Dublin, by gardai from the Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau.
During the operation, €350,000 in cash was seized.
Three men in their 40s were arrested at the scene.
The cash was being stored in vacuum packs, in a holdall bag.
Follow-up searches were conducted in a number of areas, with the assistance of gardai from the Dublin region and Cavan district.
These searches resulted in a vacuum-packing machine and associated equipment being discovered at an address in Tallaght, Dublin 24.
Zopiclone tablets with a street value in excess of €10,000 were also recovered at an address in Baileboro, Co Cavan.
Two of those arrested have been released pending the submission of files to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
One remains in custody at Swords garda station, detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
