The authorities carried out a number of raids in west Dublin yesterday, seizing a huge amount of cash in the process.

As part of ongoing investigations targeting serious criminal activity in the Dublin region, gardai carried out several intelligence-led searches in the Islandbridge and Ballyfermot areas yesterday.

During the course of the raids, cash to the amount of €120,000 was seized and a man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of money laundering.

The man, who was detained at Kilmainham garda station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 has this afternoon been released without charge.

A file is being prepared for the DPP.

The raids were carried out by gardai from the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau, supported by the Special Crime Task Force.
