Woman hospitalised and gardai rammed by car full of suspected burglars
Gardai on patrol as part of Operation Thor spotted a silver Volkswagen Golf which was deemed to be a target vehicle.
The Golf contained four males and was parked in the forecourt of a service station in the Kiltale area of Co Meath.
When the suspects spotted the gardai they reversed into a civilian car and injured a female.
They then rammed the squad car and fled the scene.
Two of the suspects fled the scene on foot but were followed by officers.
An 18-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of burglary.
He is being detained at Trim garda station, under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.
The injured female and two gardai were taken to Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown for treatment.
The silver golf was found a short time later in a field approximately one mile from Mullagh Cross on the Summerhill to Dunboyne Road.
Local gardai are been assisted by the Air Support Unit in a search of the area.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses who may have seen this car a silver VW Golf in and around the Kiltale area or may have seen it being abandoned at Mullagh Cross, to contact them at Trim on 046 9481540, the garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
