Gardai raid Dublin sites looking for gun used by organised crime gang
Gardai raided a number of Traveller halting sites on Friday as they searched for a weapon they believed was stolen from a PSNI officer before being used in a hold up.
The Star reports that a Dublin-based gang are believed to be behind a robbery in Armagh in which a gun was stolen from the house of a PSNI officer.
That gun was then used by the gang to take a car from a female motorist.
What the crooks didn't know was that the car had a tracking device and it was traced to a location close to a south Dublin halting site.
The car has since been recovered and no arrests have been made.
The paper also details the terrifying ordeal the thugs put the female motorist through.
It is believed that the gun was held to the woman's head and they threatened to shoot her unless she handed over the keys to her car.
The gang were then spotted heading south.
Gardai are reported to have searched three or four sits in the capital yesterday and the search for the firearm is ongoing.
