Gardai quiz teenage boys over rape of 14-year-old girl
Gardaí investigating the rape of a 14-year-old girl in Tallaght, Dublin, have interviewed a number of teenage boys in relation to the incident.
The attack took place on Monday afternoon close to the Ashgrove apartments on the Cookstown Road in the Springfield area of Tallaght.
The victim, who has learning difficulties, was brought to the Sexual Assault Treatment Unit in the Rotunda Hospital, where she was treated for her injuries.
Gardaí have interviewed a number of male teens – believed to be aged between 14 and 17 – in connection with the rape.
None of the youths, who are reportedly from the Tallaght area, have been arrested but have been spoken to informally by investigators.
A specialist child interviewer has taken a statement from the victim and investigating gardaí are said to be following a definite line of inquiry.
