Gardai make largest Ketamine bust in Europe following storage facility raid

Seventeen kilos of the horse tranquilliser Ketamine was seized by gardai yesterday as part of an ongoing operation by the Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau.

Initially two cars were stopped at Chapelizod Village in Dublin shortly after 5pm.

Both cars were searched and Gardaí recovered 2 Kilos of Ketamine with an estimated value of approximately €140,000.

Follow up searches were carried out by gardai in Dublin and Kildare.

At a self-storage facility in Straffan, County Kildare, a further 17 kilos of Ketamine was discovered along with other drug trafficking paraphernalia.

The total value of Ketamine seized in this operation is estimated at €1.3 million and represents the largest seizure of this particular synthetic controlled drug in the State to date, and one of the largest this year in Europe.

Three men aged 18, 32 and 36 were arrested and are currently being detained at Clondalkin Garda station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 as amended.
