Gardai arrest two men after intercepting car full of allegedly stolen items

Gardai stopped a car on the N17 at Farranamartin near Tuam Co Galway as part of Operation Thor.

During a search of the vehicle drugs and cash were discovered along with what is believed to be stolen property.

Both men, who are aged in their 20s and 40s, are currently detained at Tuam Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Garda believed that the items recovered are the proceeds of criminal activity and were taken from Mayo, Galway and Clare in recent days.

Gardaí are seeking owners for the property to contact them. Anyone with information is asked to contact Tuam Garda Station ph 093-70840.

The property recovered includes a camera, fishing rods & equipment, phones and tobacco. An image of some of the property recovered is available by email request to [email protected]

A sum of cash and a quantity of cannabis herb (pending analysis) was also seized.

Gardaí from Tuam along with members of the Traffic Corps and local Detective Unit were involved in the operation.
