Gardai discover €325k worth of MDMA in car during traffic stop

A man and a woman were arrested today after gardai found a huge quantity of drugs in a car yesterday in Co Kildare.

Gardai seized controlled drugs and a quantity of tablets after stopping a car in Kildare yesterday.

Officers from Naas Traffic Corps were conducting an ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) checkpoint at Curragh Farm, Kildare Town, yesterday evening.

During the checkpoint, gardai stopped a car for no having no tax and no insurance.

Upon searching the car, gardai discovered 6.5kg of MDMA with an estimated street value of €325,000 and a large quantity of Zanax tablets with an estimated value of €19,000 (both pending analysis).

A man in his late 30s and a woman in her early 30s were arrested today in the Naas area and are currently detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Naas garda station.
