Gardai appeal after alleged assault and theft by gang on M7 motorway

Gardai are seeking witnesses to an incident which took place on the M7, close to junction 10 Newhall, at 12:10pm on Wednesday.

Three men, all aged in their 20s, in a 09 D registered blue Volkswagen Golf where stopped on the hard shoulder of the motorway when they were approached by four men in a 151 D registered white Volkswagen Golf.

The white golf parked on the hard shoulder in front of the injured parties’ car while the incident took place.

Four men assaulted them and stole a small quantity of cigarettes.

Gardai are seeking witnesses or anyone who was passing at the time to contact them.

Gardaí have established that the white VW Golf travelled from Tallaght before the robbery and then onto Tullow Co Carlow, where it was stopped by Gardaí and three men all in their 20s and a juvenile were arrested.

Three of the men were charged in relation to the incident and appeared in Naas District Court on the 21st April.

The have been remanded on bail. File will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions in relation to the juvenile.
